Photojournalists like, Jocelyne Benzakin, Ed Kashi, and Gordon Parks show how some passion and purpose can be shaped into a fulling career. Benzakin started young, building spaces that supported creativity. Kashi used photography to expose injustice and inspire change, even in the most dangerous environments. Parks overcame poverty and segregation, using his camera to fight racism and document social issues.Their stories remind me why I want to go into nursing.Like them, I want to pursue a path that allows me to help others despite the challenges I will face. My passion, like that of these photojournalists, will make a difference.
You’re in scrubs — your scrubs.
Not school scrubs.
Not clinical badge scrubs.
Your RN badge. Your name. Your title.
You walk into your first job and a family says:
“Thank you so much… I feel better now that you’re here.”
That moment is coming.
And on that day, every late-night study session, every breakdown, every exam, every shift…
it will hit you that you didn’t go through all this for nothing.
“Kayla… look at me. You were not put on this earth to be ordinary. You were made to shine.
You hear me? Shine.
All this pressure you’re feeling—school, work, people pulling on your time—that’s not a sign of weakness.
That’s a sign that you’re growing. Diamonds only form under pressure, baby. And you?
You’re becoming one of the brightest.
When you feel tired, remind yourself of this:
You’re not tired because you’re failing.
You’re tired because you’re DOING THE WORK most people will never even try to do.
Don’t you dare forget your power.
Don’t forget your purpose.
Don’t forget who the hell you are.
Hold your head up, take a breath, and remember:
The world ain’t ready for everything you’re becoming… but you are.
So keep going, Kayla. Keep walking your path. Keep swinging, keep studying, keep believing in yourself.
And when it gets hard?
Good.
That means you’re leveling up.
Now go on— show this universe what a woman with fire in her soul can do.”
